Shelzo

Getting started

Open a folder, choose an engine, and send your first message. Shelzo uses the coding-agent subscriptions you already have.

Start your first chat

  1. Download Shelzo for macOS. You need macOS 14 or later on an Apple Silicon or Intel Mac.
  2. Open the downloaded disk image and move Shelzo to Applications. Open Shelzo from Applications.
  3. Follow onboarding and choose a project folder. You can add another later with Add Workspace… (⌘O). For example, choose the folder containing your app’s source code.
  4. Choose an installed engine. If none is installed, copy its command from the Welcome screen, run it in a terminal, and sign in through that CLI. See Engines.
  5. The Your Mac step offers computer-use permissions. Use Skip for now if your first task only needs files and commands.
  6. Open Chat (⌘3), create a chat with ⌘N, and check the folder and engine in the composer. Try: “Explain how this project starts. Do not change files.” Press Return to send.
  7. Read tool requests above the composer. Approve or decline each request that needs your decision. Use Shift-Return for a new line in your message.

Choose how to work

Code gives you terminal cards. Chat and Agent give you structured conversations and named agents with routines. Your engine’s own account is separate from a Shelzo account.

If it fails

If an engine is missing, finish installing it in your terminal and check again in Settings › Engines. If the chat says the engine is not signed in, choose Open terminal, complete the CLI’s sign-in, then Restart. An exited engine’s Show details explains the failure; use Send again for a message that did not complete.
